Call us after the movers leave, not before. That's the one piece of advice we give every Woodfield family packing up on orders, and it saves more headaches than anything else on this page.
Woodfield sits just south of Dentsville, east of Decker Blvd, with I-77 cutting through the middle and Percival Rd running along the top of Fort Jackson on the south side. Being that close to the Army's biggest basic training post means a lot of households here turn over every two or three years. Some are renting, some bought a place in Woodfield Park and will lease it out after the next PCS. Either way, the carpet is usually the last job on the checklist.
Why the timing matters
Movers drag dollies across the bedroom carpet, set boxes on it, and track in whatever's on their boots. If the carpet got cleaned two days earlier, all of that lands on a clean floor. Save the cleaning for the empty house. An empty room also lets the technician get into the corners and along the baseboards where a bed or dresser sat for three years, which is where the dust line lives.
A typical move-out visit goes like this:
- The technician walks each room with you (or with your property manager, if you've already left), points out what will and won't come up, and gives you the price before any work starts.
- Spots get a pre-treatment, and pet areas get a live enzyme treatment that reaches the pad.
- The carpet is cleaned with carbonated bubbles that lift the soil so the machine can carry it off, using far less water than a steam rental.
- Most rooms are dry enough for the final walkthrough within the hour, which matters when the inspection is booked for that afternoon.
If your lease calls for professional carpet cleaning at move-out, hang on to the receipt.
One limit we'll be honest about: some damage isn't dirt. A bleach spill, a burn from a dropped iron, or a patch the cat chewed down to the backing is a repair, and no cleaning will fix it. We'll flag those on the walkthrough so they aren't a surprise later.
The houses that stay put
Not everyone in Woodfield is on orders. The ranch homes on the big shaded lots in Woodfield Park and the 1960s and '70s houses around Drexel Lake in Drexel Lake Hills tend to belong to people who've been there a long while, and their carpet sees the slow stuff: traffic lanes, a dining room rug that's never been washed, a sofa that's hosted every holiday since the kids were little. We clean area rugs right in your living room, with no pickup, and do upholstery in the same visit if you want it.
Over on Hunt Club Rd, the Huntington condos and townhomes and the Tanglewood apartment community are mostly smaller floor plans with a lot of foot traffic packed into them. A three-room job covers more of the place than you'd think. The coupon is 3 rooms for $88, up to 300 square feet.
