Dentsville never incorporated. It grew out of the Dent family's land where Two Notch Rd, Decker Blvd and Parklane Rd meet near the railroad, and most of the houses standing here now went up between the 1960s and the 1980s. Brick ranches. Split-levels with a den half a flight down. A two-story here and there at the end of a cul-de-sac. This is home base for us, and it's the kind of house we clean more than any other.
What a 40-year-old house does to carpet
Plenty of Dentsville homes have had the same owners since the first mortgage payment. Some have a second or third carpet sitting on the original pad. We see the same three problems over and over.
Split-level stairs come first. Those short flights between the den and the bedrooms take every trip anyone makes through the house, and the front edge of each step goes gray before anything else does. We clean the stairs every time we clean the rooms, and we'd push you to do the same. A fresh hallway at the top of a dingy staircase only makes the stairs look worse.
Then there's the hallway lane. A ranch layout sends everybody down one hall, so a dark path forms right down the middle. That's grit plus skin and cooking oils, and a vacuum can't lift oil. The technician walks the rooms with you and quotes the price, works a pre-treatment into the lane, then the carbonated solution floats the soil up so the machine can pull it out. You can usually walk on it again in about an hour.
Old pet spots are the third. Buy a house that had a dog in it and you'll usually know within a month which corner of the back bedroom it liked. Fixing that takes a live enzyme treatment that reaches the pad, which is what our pet odor and stain removal service does.
We'll be straight with you about one thing. Carpet worn down to the backing, or bleached out under a west-facing window for twenty years, won't come back. We'll tell you that before we start, and you can decide whether a cleaning is worth it until the replacement goes in.
Floors that aren't carpet
A lot of these houses had the wall-to-wall pulled up years ago to show off the oak underneath, or got tile in the kitchen and baths during a remodel. We clean finished hardwood with a pH-neutral method that uses very little water (no sanding, no refinishing). Tile and grout gets a machine buffer that scrubs the dirt out of the grout lines. Area rugs are cleaned right where they lie, so nothing gets hauled off, and the recliner that's been in the den since the Carter years can get the same treatment through our upholstery cleaning.
Allergies in the house? Ask about the antibacterial sanitizer when you call. Spring pollen finds its way into Dentsville carpet like it does everywhere else in the Midlands.
Where we work around home base
We clean in Windsor Estates, Briarwood, Forestwood Estates, Springwood Lake, East Lake Hills and Edinburgh, on the streets running off Two Notch Rd and Decker Blvd, for families with kids at E.L. Wright Middle and Richland Northeast High, around the old Columbia Place mall that the county now runs as a services hub, and across the rest of northeast Richland County, so a crew is rarely more than a few minutes from your driveway.
